Rediscover Singapore - Christmas 2020

Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed on December 25th as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world also known as the Feast of Nativity. This year celebration is called for concern due to the pandemic of the Covid19 around the world and every nation are taking precautions to celebrate this festival with social distancing, and compulsory donning of the mask to prevent to catching the virus, but still shopping malls and retails outlet are decking up with beautiful decors, streets lighting to ring in the festive mood.

Rediscover Singapore - Jalan Kubor

Jalan Kubor bound by Victoria Street and Rochor Canal Road lies the oldest Muslim Cemetery from the 19th and 20th Century it is made up of three section Sultan's burial ground, Malay burial ground and the Indian Muslim burial ground. One section referred to as the tomb's of one Malayan Prince, this part of the cemetery was reserved for the royal household of Sultan Hussien, on the Malay burial ground the area was commonly known as Syed Omar burial ground and last but not least the third section of the cemetery came into being when Sultan Ali granted a plot to the Indian Muslim residing in Kampong Glam. In 2014 the National Heritage Board announced a project to document the history of the people buried in Jalan Kubor, because the site had been embarked for the residential redevelopment under the  URA masterplan since 1998 and there is a Madrasah School next door and up to this date no development had been announced.

Rediscover Singapore - Jurong Lake Garden

The Jurong Lake Garden District makes up part of the Chinese and Japanese Garden a sprawling parks around a lake and forest with a boardwalk a dog run and water sport. It is a new national garden in the heartlands and people's garden where spaces will be landscaped and created for families and the community to come together. It was opened for visitors from April 2019 while the other two gardens are closed for redevelopment in tandem to rejuvenate the Jurong Lake District, but now the plan had been put on hold because the High-Speed Train project between out neighbours had been shelved not letting our nation to have a stake in it.

Rediscover Singapore - The Day Heaven Weeps

 In 2015, our nation will be celebrating 50 years of Independence come 9th August but a tragic event happens on 23rd March 2015, our founding father Mr Lee Kuan Yew passed away, age 91 there was a week of national mourning many Singaporean and world leaders paid tributes to him at a lying-in-state at Singapore Parliament House and also at community site all across the nation. On 29th March the funeral of the late Lee Kuan Yew was held and crowds brave the heavy rain along the funeral route taking him from Parliament House through City Hall, Central Business District, Housing Estate and onward to the Mandai Crematorium. It was a sombre National Day on the 9th of August to celebrate SG50 without Lee Kuan Yew for the first time.

Rediscover Singapore - Our Olympic Quest

During 1960 as a young boy who knew nothing about world and sporting events which our nation had a hand in it. That year in Rome our nation won out first Olympic Silver Medal which was won by Mr Tan Howe Liang our strongman who participate in weight lifting than a group man took a bold step to try for an Olympic Medal which pushes Singapore to achieve to score a medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympic or 2012 London Olympic or better yet both. On August 17th 2008 our women table tennis won a Silver Olympic Medal with a lapse of 48 long years.  In Rio 2016, Singaporean  Joseph Isaac Schooling won Singapore only Olympic Gold Medal in the 100-metre butterfly with a live stream for the final and had everybody back home cheering on for his success and what a moment for all Singaporean it delivers. The Olympic champion was given a rousing welcome with the meet and greet there was a huge crowd gather at  Raffle City to catch glimpse of him form the young to the old.

Rediscover Singapore - Old Woodland Town Center (Demolished)

Woodland Town Centre is located north of Singapore close to the causeway and acted as a bustling transition between Singapore and Malaysia. It consists of 6 blocks of low rise flats with business such as money changers, retail shops and eateries and cinema benefitted for the large numbers of travellers and workers who commute daily between the 2 countries. It begins in 1970 and overtime more amenities were added to it and also street hawkers were moved into the new hawker centre and in 1981 a new bus interchange was introduced so did a town centre park being built and finally, the centre was closed for redevelopment in 2017 to make way for a new checkpoint extension.

Rediscover Singapore - Hougang New Town

Hougang (Au Kang) literally meant "the end of the river" it is located in the northeastern part of Singapore where Yio Chu Kang, Upper Serangoon and Tampines intersection where at one time it is a forested area with pig farms and was largely populated by the Teochew resident. Tua Jia Ka which means foot of the big well, the village was known as Sompah Serangoon Village and also Kangkar Fish Market. In 1979 the HDB announced a plan to built a new town to house 120,000 resident and was originally called Hou Gang and finally renamed Hougang to support the Speak Mandarin Campaign. Today Hougang is the stronghold of the opposition Workers Party which they wrestle from the incumbent of the People Action Party in 1991 by Mr Low Thia Kiang.
