Rediscover Singapore - Last Day of 2020

Its time of the year we are bidding goodbye to 2020 the year of the CORONAVIRUS which had to make the world stand up to fight against the pandemic, it seems the Earth had been rotating faster than before all of the sudden we are welcoming 2021, we witnessed the great conjunction of  Jupiter and Saturn appear 1/10 degree apart which we will not be witnessing in 20 years time to sum it up not so happy year after all. So Happy New to each and everyone on this planet looking forward to being normal back again.

Rediscover Singapore - Year 2020 in review

2020 comes and go and too as the Rat Lunar New Year not so auspicious as expected, I was born in the year of the Rat sadly the arrival of the Coronavirus19 sent everybody life is topsy turvy as a lot of works begin at home as well as school children business were disrupted and also jobs were lost during the pandemic period enter into Circuit Breaker and goes into Phase 2 and as of 28th December 2020 finally into Phase 3 but still all must be vigilant and keep ourselves safe as well as others so everyone should do our part to try to beat off these sicken situation and I hope that this event will come to an end in the near future as we heading toward 2021. The year before the pandemic was a hectic year for us who love photography tending to the various celebration which banded us, photographers together as travel had to put on hold, last but not least hoping that there are lights at the end of the tunnel for everyone in Singapore and the World have a blessed and prosperous 2021 as usual everywhere we go stay safe, life still goes on wishing every Happy New Year.

Rediscover Singapore - Changi Boardwalk

Located at the easternmost part of Singapore lies the Changi Boardwalk also know as the Changi Coastal Walk, it was under the URA Singapore Green Plan 2012. The first phase of the construction begins in 2001 and completed in 2003, the second phase starts as soon as the first in 2004 till 2006 which included the Changi Ferry Terminal. The boardwalk is accessible to Changi Village, Changi Beach and Changi Beach Park, it also connects to Changi Sailing Club and Changi Beach Club. The Boardwalk consists of 6 distinct sections namely the Sunset Walk, Kelong Walk, Cliff Walk, Sailing Point Walk and Beach Walk.

Rediscover Singapore - Fort Canning Hill Park

Fort Canning Hill, formerly known as Government Hill, Bukit Larangan (Forbidden Hill) is a small hill about 48 metre high situated in the central area of Singapore and had a long history, there is a lighthouse on top and an ancient king was buried there. Government Hill was later renamed Fort Canning in 1861when a fort was built on the site, today it is the location of the Fort Canning Reservoir and Fort Canning Park.

Rediscover Singapore - New Year Countdown 2021

This New Year Eve will be different as expected due to the Coronavirus (Covid19) situation, the usual big crowds gathering together to catch the fireworks are no longer allowed to maintain public safety, but despite these, the night skyline will not be completely empty there is a new light show at Marina Bay, Art Science Museum and Fullerton Hotel. Fireworks display will be scaled down and will be fired in the heartlands at 11 wards and for the first time, the fireworks are view virtually during the countdown. There is a lights festival over at Jurong Lake Garden where scenes of famous landmarks around the world are crafted as light lanterns ranging from Dragon, Phoenix, Middle Eastern Countries, UK, USA, Japan, China, Australia, India and France.

Rediscover Singapore - Gearing towards Phase 3

The month of April saw the Circuit Breaker kick in to prevent the spread of the Covid19 pandemic which had taken the world by storm everything comes to a standstill no eating out and only essentials services are allowed such as going to markets and take away foods with arranged timing such as odd and even numbers based on the last digit of their identity card then after two months on 19th June 2020 our nation enter into phase 2 with a gathering of group number to 5 and mask is a must and on the coming 28th December 2020 we will be entering Phase 3 with the number of people in a group to 8 hope that by next year or so the rules to be open up more for people to gather may it be wedding or funeral or other social gatherings and also everybody should play their part in keeping the situation under control in order to face the new normal. In a few days time, we will be welcoming 2021 with a low key welcoming environment.

Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed on December 25th as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world also known as the Feast of Nativity. This year celebration is called for concern due to the pandemic of the Covid19 around the world and every nation are taking precautions to celebrate this festival with social distancing, and compulsory donning of the mask to prevent to catching the virus, but still shopping malls and retails outlet are decking up with beautiful decors, streets lighting to ring in the festive mood.

Rediscover Singapore - Jalan Kubor

Jalan Kubor bound by Victoria Street and Rochor Canal Road lies the oldest Muslim Cemetery from the 19th and 20th Century it is made up of three section Sultan's burial ground, Malay burial ground and the Indian Muslim burial ground. One section referred to as the tomb's of one Malayan Prince, this part of the cemetery was reserved for the royal household of Sultan Hussien, on the Malay burial ground the area was commonly known as Syed Omar burial ground and last but not least the third section of the cemetery came into being when Sultan Ali granted a plot to the Indian Muslim residing in Kampong Glam. In 2014 the National Heritage Board announced a project to document the history of the people buried in Jalan Kubor, because the site had been embarked for the residential redevelopment under the  URA masterplan since 1998 and there is a Madrasah School next door and up to this date no development had been announced.

Rediscover Singapore - Jurong Lake Garden

The Jurong Lake Garden District makes up part of the Chinese and Japanese Garden a sprawling parks around a lake and forest with a boardwalk a dog run and water sport. It is a new national garden in the heartlands and people's garden where spaces will be landscaped and created for families and the community to come together. It was opened for visitors from April 2019 while the other two gardens are closed for redevelopment in tandem to rejuvenate the Jurong Lake District, but now the plan had been put on hold because the High-Speed Train project between out neighbours had been shelved not letting our nation to have a stake in it.

Rediscover Singapore - The Day Heaven Weeps

 In 2015, our nation will be celebrating 50 years of Independence come 9th August but a tragic event happens on 23rd March 2015, our founding father Mr Lee Kuan Yew passed away, age 91 there was a week of national mourning many Singaporean and world leaders paid tributes to him at a lying-in-state at Singapore Parliament House and also at community site all across the nation. On 29th March the funeral of the late Lee Kuan Yew was held and crowds brave the heavy rain along the funeral route taking him from Parliament House through City Hall, Central Business District, Housing Estate and onward to the Mandai Crematorium. It was a sombre National Day on the 9th of August to celebrate SG50 without Lee Kuan Yew for the first time.

Rediscover Singapore - Our Olympic Quest

During 1960 as a young boy who knew nothing about world and sporting events which our nation had a hand in it. That year in Rome our nation won out first Olympic Silver Medal which was won by Mr Tan Howe Liang our strongman who participate in weight lifting than a group man took a bold step to try for an Olympic Medal which pushes Singapore to achieve to score a medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympic or 2012 London Olympic or better yet both. On August 17th 2008 our women table tennis won a Silver Olympic Medal with a lapse of 48 long years.  In Rio 2016, Singaporean  Joseph Isaac Schooling won Singapore only Olympic Gold Medal in the 100-metre butterfly with a live stream for the final and had everybody back home cheering on for his success and what a moment for all Singaporean it delivers. The Olympic champion was given a rousing welcome with the meet and greet there was a huge crowd gather at  Raffle City to catch glimpse of him form the young to the old.

Rediscover Singapore - Old Woodland Town Center (Demolished)

Woodland Town Centre is located north of Singapore close to the causeway and acted as a bustling transition between Singapore and Malaysia. It consists of 6 blocks of low rise flats with business such as money changers, retail shops and eateries and cinema benefitted for the large numbers of travellers and workers who commute daily between the 2 countries. It begins in 1970 and overtime more amenities were added to it and also street hawkers were moved into the new hawker centre and in 1981 a new bus interchange was introduced so did a town centre park being built and finally, the centre was closed for redevelopment in 2017 to make way for a new checkpoint extension.

Rediscover Singapore - Hougang New Town

Hougang (Au Kang) literally meant "the end of the river" it is located in the northeastern part of Singapore where Yio Chu Kang, Upper Serangoon and Tampines intersection where at one time it is a forested area with pig farms and was largely populated by the Teochew resident. Tua Jia Ka which means foot of the big well, the village was known as Sompah Serangoon Village and also Kangkar Fish Market. In 1979 the HDB announced a plan to built a new town to house 120,000 resident and was originally called Hou Gang and finally renamed Hougang to support the Speak Mandarin Campaign. Today Hougang is the stronghold of the opposition Workers Party which they wrestle from the incumbent of the People Action Party in 1991 by Mr Low Thia Kiang.

Boon Lay Shopping Centre is a suburban mall situated at Boon Lay Place mainly for retail and F&B where it is famous for its Power Nasi Lemak and is strategically located in the Jurong Hub within the Jurong Lake District master plan. It has many amenities including the Boon Lay Swimming complex and major expressways and also the East-West Line MRT and seamlessly connected to the rest of Singapore.

Rediscover Singapore - Jewel Changi Airport

To meet the future needs of air traveller in these regions of South East Asia, and to cater for the tourist's numbers and also to increase the space around 70 per cent to Terminal 1 Jewel was born from the former open car park it is to be a natured theme retail complex on the inside of Changi Airport and is linked to the other Terminal 2 & 3 by linked travelator bridges and also the world tallest waterfall with its Rain Vortex which is surrounded by terraced forest setting. Jewel includes a garden, a hotel and about 300 retail and dining outlets with convenience early check-in.
