FA Cup match at Bishan Stadium

Today match was the first in the year 2014 between Singapore Lion XII and KL DBR Hicom FC from Malaysia just across the causeway. It was held at the Bishan Stadium in the central part of Singapore, it was constructed in 1998 it's part of the Bishan Sport and Recreation Centre which includes Bishan Sports Hall an indoor sports hall, and Bishan Swimming Pool and home to Home United Football Club. We won 3 nil.

Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum

Singapore Chinatown is home to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum located along South Bridge Road just directly opposite the Maxwell Road food Centre.  It was built in 2005 at a cost of 62 million mostly from donations from peoples from all walks of life and was officially opened in 2007 on Vesak Day it had become a tourist attraction.

Year of the Horse

The Chinese communities all around the world celebrate the Lunar New Year based of the Chinese zodiac of the Horse this year, everywhere people are rushing to shop for the new year goodies especially in Singapore Chinatown and some may wait to the last minute to have a good bargain.  WellSpring is here and Gong Xi Fa Cai to all.

A visit to Jurong Bird Park

Today spent an outing with grandkids and family at the bird park.  It was open in 1971 until a makeover in 2006 the attraction consists of Asian Birds, African Waterfall Aviary, Kings of skies show, High flyer show, I also cannot remember when I last visit the park.

Thaipusam at Little India

The Tamil communities in Singapore celebrate Thaipusam during the month of January/February period.  It is a combination of two words of the month Thai and Star Pusam.  It is celebrated where there is a significant presence of Tamil community as in India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, Mauritius, Thailand and Myanmar. Here devotees carried the kavadi and also a pot of milk they then march from a temple located in Little India to Tank Road.

Colourful Queenstown

Here is a handful of a beautiful building which is still lying around but their faith are uncertain, hopefully, our city planner will plan in such a way as to sync with the surrounding and hope that the residents will have a voice to have it conserved.
